Red has been playing piano since age 3, starting on classical piano at age five and as a teenager listened to and transcribed the jazz greats – Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, George Shearing and many others. He has performed in many different formats – Piano Trio: piano, acoustic bass, drums… Quartet: piano, bass, drums, saxophone… Quintet: piano, bass, drums, saxophone & trumpet or trombone. In this format he performs not only his own compositions, but jazz standards, obscure jazz songs, groove tunes, swing, bebop, blues and vocals as well. His musical knowledge is wide ranging and can recall songs back to the first he ever learned more than 60 years ago. He will play songs you have never heard and songs you haven’t heard in a long time. A real treat to the ears…
